Hotel Palacete del Corregidor

Superb hotel. Huge rooms, even the bathroom was bigger than a lot of hotel rooms I have stayed in. The restaurant upstairs on the 3rd floor has the most beautiful views from the terrace and a €10 set lunch menu, €16 for dinner. The chef does slow cooking and has a penchant for very healthy & flavoursome choices. I also add that I had a lot of luggage and Oscar the receptionist drove my car to the door and unloaded everything and took it to my room - exceptional service.

I have been with my family having dinner at your restaurant and it seemed like a special place. And the originality of the dishes, the natural and fresh flavor, has pleasantly surprised me. We went up by chance to see a blackboard with the menu on the street and it was a very pleasant experience. Very attentive and prepared waitresses (I heard them speaking in German and English with other tables) for how young they were and very correct. Very colorful everything and above all; a taste of food. Bravo!

Situated in the middle of Almunecar's old town you were surrounded by buildings and traditional narrow pedestrian paths. A very charming setting. This place was value for money. We paid 75euro for a room for two. Breakfast was included in the price and very much enjoyed from their roof top restaurant the next morning. The Room was a decent size with air conditioning, which has not been my experience in other places in Spain.

The hotel is very good. We went in September, for tourism. The rooms are large, those facing the interior have the largest bathrooms (on my floor, the 2nd was like this). Those that face the entrance street, the bathroom is very good but smaller. We didn't try the spa, I can't comment. At night, it closes and you have to knock (intercom on the door) to enter, there was no problem. The buffet is small, but it is well stocked, and the best thing is that it is on the upper terrace (rooftop, see photo): if you are lucky enough to have good weather, which is likely there, you have a very good breakfast. The views are good, and if there is sun, a joy. We didn't get to eat or have dinner. There is a lot to see in Almuñecar, apart from sun and beach, and very good eating and drinking, don't miss the castle (guide included) and the 7 palaces cave (lots of explanatory audiovisuals)... but there is a pottery center, aqueducts , the nearby Salobreña, and 1 hour away from the Sierra Nevada and its impressive towns... And let's not forget the people there... they are Andalusian. They are kind, friendly... they will treat you very well. Edit, I forgot: the parking issue. The hotel is in the alleys of the upper part, very well located. It has a parking lot (I think I remember €10xday) located about 300 meters away; When you arrive in Almuñecar, you call the hotel and a person meets you wherever you arrive, near the center, and guides you to the parking lot, and from there, through narrow streets full of people to the hotel. It is not the most comfortable thing in the world, especially if you are an older person, but in general it is not a problem either (except in specific personal cases).
